FAQ

If you would like to order from Meals-on-wheels for yourself or a loved one you can contact us on (098) 25669. Most organisations use a self-referral system or can be referred to by a family member or neighbour.

The cost of our meals is €5

Generally, dinner consists of potatoes, two vegetables and meat/chicken/bacon or fish. A gravy or white sauce is also included which can be requested on the side if preferred. We can cater for vegetarians, vegans and all dietary requirements. You will be asked at the outset if you have any special requirements.

Our volunteer drivers who have been garda vetted will deliver the meal to your door and check on you to make sure you’re ok.

You can let the provider know what days you wish to get a meal. If you are away for a day or longer and do not need a meal, you can contact them the previous day or early that morning to let them know you will not be home.

If you know, you will not be at home when your meal is delivered but still need the meal you can contact us and arrange an alternative time when you will be home.

The meal will be brought to your door, the person will either knock on your door/ring your doorbell to make sure you are home. Part of Mealson-wheels is to check in on the person receiving the meal and make sure they are ok. You may leave a container or box outside their door for the dinner to be placed in if you’re in isolation due to Covid-19

You can cancel your Meals on Wheels at any time. You can also suspend delivery of meals for some time if you are away for a few days visiting or on holidays or if you need to spend time in hospital. You can then contact the local provider when you wish to avail yourself of the service again.

At our charity shop you can purchase items such as clothes, toys, antiques, electronics and other general household items that people have donated to our shop.

You may donate any clothes, electronics or household items you are not using anymore. We only require that anything you donate be of a good quality. We cannot accept any broken or damaged items as it wouldn’t be fair to the person who comes into our store looking to make a purchase.

Absolutely anyone can attend, come on down to grab a bite to eat and meet some people from around the community, we would be more than happy to have you.
